Hello Everyone,
Going forward we are going to be changing gears with meets now on the schedule. You've all put in work to build a base for the season, and now we are going to start building off of that base. With weekday meets in the mix, we can't have as many hard days at practice. It's very important that everyone puts in full effort so you stay in shape when we do have hard days.
Uniforms:
I will bring uniforms on Tuesday for distribution. Uniforms take time to hand out so plan on practice running late. If you are not there Tuesday, I will bring them Wednesday as well.
Meets:
You should arrive at a meet one hour before a meet starts. I expect everyone to stay for the entire event to support your teammates. Showing up for your race and then just leaving after is not acceptable. Be a team player and cheer on your team. If there is a time you must leave early or come late, I understand completely, but you must communicate it clearly to me. Tell me you'll be late and check in with me before you leave.
Typically field events start simultaneously with the track events, or a little before even. The general rule is that if you are racing, track takes priority over field events. If you are called to a field event but need to go warm up or race, you must check in beforehand and communicate it to the person running your event so they know you are there. Your coaches are there to help and guide you, but you need to be responsible for yourselves as best you can.
For Thursdays meet, it is at 4pm at Orange Glen HS. Everyone has a release time of 2:30 and should be there by 3pm in uniform. Bring your spikes with you. Remember that regulation spikes are checked at meets, you need 3/16" needles to use spikes on the turf tracks.
**We are Co-Hosting the first meet with Calvin Christian. Our team will be helping set up and tear down the event. Please pay attention if a coach asks for help with something so it can run smoothly. We are hosting the second meet so this will be good practice.**
Invitationals:
For invitationals, you should arrive an hour before your event. I expect everyone to stay till the end to support the team. Communication requirements are the same as I stated previously.
The Don Jones Invitational is at Rancho Bernardo HS and starts at 9am for field events and 10am for track events. The official schedule of event times is not online yet. If they don't put a timed schedule online, assume you should be there at 8am or 9am based on your events.
Coastal Joining Monday:
Coastal Academy, our sister school, has their first track team this year. They do not have a facility to practice at, nor has anywhere been available for them to use even for the day. The coach reached out to me for some help and I agreed to let them join us Monday so they can get a feel for running on a track. I decided it will be easiest and the best benefit to them if they do our workout with us. Yes we are competitors, but I want everyone to welcome them and help them out. Let's be good examples of sportsmanship and a team that helps others.
Entries:
The entries for the Bronco Invite are now finalized. Pacific Cluster entries I can change up until tomorrow night. I will bring the entries sheet tomorrow for you all to review. If you are not at practice tomorrow, please review what I've put you in. I put some of you in extra events. If you think it is too much to handle, please inform me before practice is over so I can make the changes in time. I will attach the entries at the bottom of this message.
Snacks Needed:
If there is a parent willing to set it up, it would be awesome to have a signup genius made for snacks at meets. We try to make sure the athletes have everything they need to be successful at the meet. We need water, electrolyte drinks, sweet and salty snacks, fruits, etc. Most importantly of all...CHOCOLATE MILK. Please reach out if you are able to make this happen, and I will get you the email list.
