Hello Parents & Players,
Unfortunately the season came to quick end on Saturday morning. I'll be the first one to admit that I have to do a better job at controlling that game in the second half and ill be kicking myself for a long time about that one. Regardless of that we still had an absolutely outstanding season and one game does not define this amazing group of boys. Below please see some information about whats happening going forward.
Donations/Fundraising-
This should of been started last month but regardless we need to raise some funds to cover the cost of our suits and potentially a new floating goal and or other equipment for next year. The goal is to raise between 4-5 thousand dollars so we can keep this program moving forward and progressing. The first thing we need to raise money for is our team suit order from this season. Secondly i am interested in getting a new floating goal for the program that will allow us to have more flexibility at practice and hopefully free up some more space to have better practices. I think we will have a little bit of pool time at another pool next year but i am guessing we will still have a lot of practices in the afternoon at Washington park so a floating goal would help a lot. If we are able to cover the cost of the suits and a new goal and there is still money left over then i will look at other training equipment that we can get to help our boys improve. All the donations will go towards helping the program with equipment/covering suit cost and with 30+ players in the program i have set of goal of trying to raise $150 per family/player so we can reach our goal. I do not want to stress anyone out or put anyone in a weird spot so please only donate if you can. Donations can be made in the form of Checks made out to "CAHS asb" and in the memo line write "boys water polo". They can be turned in at the front desk. I thank you for your help with this.
Swamp Stomp- DATE CHANGED AGAIN-
The night of the 18th we no longer have the pool since that is Orange Glen's girls teams regular practice time so we had to reschedule again.
NEW DATE- Saturday 11/23- 10:30am- 12:30pm @ Washington Park Pool. First hour scrimmage vs Parents/Alumni and second hour will be team potluck and senior gifts. Sorry to change it again but we have to work with the other programs since we share the pool. All JV and Varsity players/parents and encouraged to come.
Team Banquet-
This is for all JV and Varsity families and players. The coaches will talk about the season and hand out awards. Please mark your calendars I would love to have everyone there. We picked this date so everyone will hopefully have enough time to clear their schedules.
Boys Water Polo Banquet- @ Caiman Hall at the School. - Thursday, January 16th, 2020- 6:30pm-8pm.
End of Season Message-
As the head coach of the program I am overall excited about the future of the program and the success we had this year. I am eager to see us continue to grow and compete vs the other top programs in San Diego. The main way we can continue to close the gap is to play club water polo. There is really 4 seasons a year of water polo. Unfortunately high school season is only 1 of those 4 seasons. The top programs all play year round and the reason we have been so successful this past two high school seasons is because the core of our varsity team has been committed to club and or training some type of sport year round. We will be tested big time next year as we move into Division 1. I'm not saying club is the only way to be good at sports but for water polo it's a huge deal to keep playing more water polo. Playing other sports or just training in the gym is still very good and can help you. I strongly suggest every player does swim team for the school this spring. The best players are usually also the best swimmers and it pretty much goes hand in hand. I am here as a resource in the off season and i am willing to help you find a off season plan to help your player reach his full potential. I appreciate all the support and hard work from the parents and players this season. We truly have a special group of families that make up the boys water program at CAHS and i am truly grateful to be able to coach these boys. I hope to see everyone at the banquet and swamp stomp so we can celebrate the awesome season of water polo this fall.
Thank you for reading my long email and i wish everyone the best as we get into the Holiday season,
Thank you
Coach John-William Bryant
