Happy Sunday BVB Family,
What a week to be part of the BVB family. We traveled out to University City and Rancho Bernardo early in the week where our Freshman Squad continued their hot streak to start the season with back-to-back-to-back wins. The JV squad has been nothing short of exciting, taking each of their first 3 matches to a deciding third set. Varsity has had their own share of on-court success taking wins over fellow Division I opponents University City and Rancho Bernardo. Thursday we had a wonderful time at team dinner! So, thank you to all the families that made it happen and a special thanks to the Winter family for opening up their home to host around 40 hungry boys.
On Friday, our JV and Freshman teams hosted Escondido for their 2nd home stand of the season. Once again, the Freshman tallied a win in straight sets to improve to 4-0 on the season. JV found their groove once again and earned the W over EHS to bring their record to .500 on the season.
Varsity made their way down to South County for a weekend of tournament action. On day 1 of the two day tournament, the Varsity crew bruised their way through pool play going undefeated over El Camino, O’Farrell, and San Diego HS to earn a bid to the Gold bracket and a chance to become tournament champions. Day 2 saw stiff competition, but our crew was up for the challenge. Varsity won a convincing Game 1 over Point Loma, but the pointers would not relent and wound up taking Game 2. In Game 3, we stole momentum with a 10-0 service run by Micah Salas and we never looked back on our way to a 15-5 victory.
We fell short in the quarterfinals to a disciplined Coronado team bringing Varsity’s record to 7-1.
We hope to continue our growth and success as a program as we head into Week 4 of the 2020 season. Here’s what to add to your calendars for the upcoming week:
